About the meal:

Help yourself to hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) around the fire inside a warm candlelit gamme (traditional Sami hut). Enjoy a warm lunch of bidos (a traditional Sami stew) with more hot drinks and cookies. A vegetarian / vegan / gluten free option is also possible. Ask the Tromsø Arctic Reindeer team onsite for more information about the meal or if you wish to have another hot chocolate to warm up.

Inclusions:

Feeding of wild reindeer around the camp, lasso throwing test (not on real reindeer), hot drinks — tea, coffee, and hot chocolate — by the fire inside a warm candlelit gamme (traditional Sámi hut), hot lunch of bidos (traditional Sámi stew) with additional hot drinks and cookies, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available, storytelling of Sámi culture, and a joik performance (traditional Sámi folk song).

Experience Sámi Culture and Reindeer Feeding!

Start your Sámi adventure with our partner, Tromsø Arctic Reindeer, by hand-feeding a herd of 300 reindeer before stepping into the lavvu for a hot traditional meal cooked over the fire. End the day gathered around the fire to enjoy joik (traditional Sámi songs) and learn about Sámi culture and history, all set against the breathtaking Arctic landscape.

Important information

It might be cold, windy, slippery, icey or muddy, so remember to dress appropriately. Never lean on or touch the fire. Practice common sense around the road, the animals and the fire and listen for instructions from the Tromsø Arctic Reindeer team.

Bus terminal at Tromsø Havn Prostneset, (Samuel Arnesens gate 5, 9008, Tromsø – Google maps link). There are two entrances. One is by the buses and one is between the Terminal and the Clarion Edge. Our guides will be where the buses are ready to depart to camp. If you do go to the wrong entrances, walk through the terminal to the other entrance and you will find Tromsø Arctic Reindeer guides there.

Please look out for the Tromsø Arctic Reindeer guides pick up guides who will be wearing blue ‘Tromsø Arctic Reindeer’ jackets. We want all guests to enjoy the whole experience, so please arrive with time to spare so Tromsø Arctic Reindeer can ensure a prompt departure of 10.00
