Taste: Local homemade food by the fire.

We light a warm campfire to create a cosy atmosphere while you relax and enjoy homemade hot soup prepared just for you. You can also try traditional “coca” coffee, brewed right on the fire, or enjoy a rich hot chocolate made in our kitchen. The fire adds that special touch, making every sip and bite feel welcoming and authentic.

Challenge yourself: The Arctic cold.

The Arctic cold is a real challenge — but with the right gear, including thermal suits we provide, it’s one you can enjoy. The crisp air and snowy nights push you a bit, but that’s part of the adventure. It makes every moment outside feel sharper and more alive.

Important information

After booking with us you’ll receive a confirmation email. Please read through the email carefully and ensure all details are correct. If you don’t receive a confirmation email from us, please get in contact with our friendly team.

Our terms and conditions and cancellation policy can be found here. Please note the cancellation policy for this tour is 32 days (see section 4.2 of our terms and conditions).

All participants need to complete the eWaiver before the tour/activity start time. Here is the link to our waiver. It’s one eWaiver per booking, no matter how many Wandering Owl activities you join. If you have been on tour with us in the last 12 months, you do not need to complete another waiver.

It’s a great idea to dress in layers, so as you warm up or cool down, you can add and remove layers. We suggest: woollen base layer, woollen sweater, down mid layer and a shell or windproof jacket as the final layer. Jeans, especially skinny jeans, aren’t windproof, nor do they have any thermal qualities. High heels and fashion shoes are unsuitable.

We suggest downloading WhatsApp before travelling to Norway. We prefer to use WhatsApp or email when communicating with our guests. Remember to keep your phone handy on the day of the tour in case we need to make last-minute changes or communicate with you.

We never cancel simply because the forecast says it might be cloudy. You can learn more about this by reading our Northern Light blog category here.

Wandering Owl is eco-certified by Travelife. This means we meet international sustainability standards and take real action to protect the Arctic environment. From small group sizes to reducing waste and supporting local communities, we believe every choice matters. Responsible travel is at the heart of what we do.

Stories From Our Happy Explorers

Highly recommend Wandering Owl for Northern Lights Tours!

The weather has been terrible for several days in Tromso, my previously booked tour with another company cancelled. Only had two more days in Norway and I was very keen to see the Northern Lights. January 14 was a cloudy night not much visibility, but our fantastic tour guides Tomas and Michael researched the areas where we should be heading and we were one of the few groups on that day who managed to see the Northern lights not once, but TWICE! They prepared a nice campfire and meal for us, we had a wonderful time waiting for the lights to show up. They were magnificent displays! Tomas took great photos that I will cherish. I am so thankful, that our guides were so knowledgeable to find the right spot and I managed to see the Northern Lights first up prior to returning to Australia.

Successful late season lights with Isaac

We got lucky and saw some beautiful lights starting early in the evening, for it being the last weekend of March, it was quite a treat. It wouldn’t have been as amazing of a trip without our wonderful guide, Isaac. Not only did he get way better photos for us, he was incredibly knowledgable about the northern lights and everything we saw along the way to our viewing spot. His positivity is infectious and made the whole experience unforgettable and absolutely delightful. Even if we hadn’t seen any lights, it would have been a great trip. Thank you!

A wonderful experience!

They truly cared to give the best experience possible. We moved and stopped quite a few times to watch the auroras that were visible to us. Sam was an amazing guide provided lots of information and kept a friendly and nice environment.
